Briargate & Abby
I had the pleasure of meeting these two at Archive in Salem, months & months ago. I felt like we had a pretty good connection instantly, but it turns out my daughter knew Abby from when she was going to physical therapy, so that was cool to find out!
The First Look
I will never get tired of capturing the first look between a couple. Or even a bride & her mom/dad. I tell every couple I talk to, if I had the chance to do it over again, I would definitely opt for a first look! Briargate could not stop smiling as he heard Abby behind him. It’s hard for me to tell them to just stand there for a couple of photos, because can feeeeel the anticipation in the air! BUT it also makes it even sweeter when they turn around & their faces light up. It’s always a magical moment!
The Venue: Steven’s Pavilion at Hoyt Arboretum, Washington Park, Portland, Oregon
Briargate & Abby are probably one of the cutest couples with such a sweet vision for their wedding. They decided for their venue they wanted Hoyt Arboretum, specifically Steven’s Pavilion. I had never been there before, but always wanted to go because it looks gorgeous! I love seeing couples’ visions come to life on the day of their wedding!
The Cake
Wedding cake is one of the things I look forward to at a wedding. I love taking photos of the cake from all angles & eating it too!
But this cake, omg, I have never seen a black one before! & not just black, it had fresh figs & berries with gold flakes, dried oranges, & fairy lights?! It was incredible!
Guestbook & Favors
Again, something I haven’t seen at a wedding before, but it is such a neat idea! Having all the guests sign a piece of a puzzle so they can have it as a keepsake. The thank you favors were such cute little wildflower seed papers. I was definitely eyeing those & totally forgot to grab a couple on my way out!
Food Truck Food
Oh boy, I am loving that people are having food trucks show up at their weddings. I absolutely LOVE food trucks. They’re quick, delicious, & you don’t even have to try to be fancy! You get it to go & go sit with everyone else with their takeout & chow down on some grub with the newlyweds! It’s pretty perfect lol. Amelia’s Food Cart did an amazing job serving all the guests quickly & it was delicious!

I’m always so honored that I get to witness & capture a couple’s special day & Briargate & Abby’s wedding was no different! It is definitely one I will remember as being one of the most easy-going, good-vibey weddings I’ve ever been to. & it started EARLY if you can believe that!
You guys are amazing & I wish you all the good things as you start your life together!
