Frequenty Asked Questions

Please read through the FAQs below and if you sstill have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out!

  • What can I expect?

You can expect us to meet at a location we agreed on, we will most likely walk around, find some good spots, & take lots of photos. It will probably feel like it goes pretty fast because we are usually moving; different poses, different areas, little walks, etc. If you ask some former clients, you can expect me to talk & laugh a lot. I am always excited to meet clients & guide them by giving them prompts & being silly. It’s my goal to make you feel comfortable with me & your session & walk away feeling like it was a great experience, one that you want to have again!

  • How long is a session?

Typically, a full session is 45 mins to 1 hour. Specialty sessions are anywhere from 10 minutes (Tiny-Minis) to 2-3 hours (usually in the case of Newborn sessions for feeding time & set up).

These estimated times reflect shooting, posing, walking to different locations, & getting everyone to feel more comfortable.

Please make sure everyone is ready to go when you arrive & kids are not super hungry or tired. Our time together is valuable & I do not want to waste it!

  • Is there a deposit?

Yes, there is a 10% deposit to secure your session, so if your quote is for $245, your deposit will be $24.50. The deposit is non-refundable, due before the scheduled session, & goes towards your total amount. Always payable via Venmo, Apple Pay, check, or cash.

I understand that life happens (I am a mom, & a human, so I get it), you may reschedule one time, at no-charge, after that there is a $25 fee. I care about my clients, so please keep in contact with me if you need to reschedule due to sickness, injury, or other emergency!

  • Do you travel or have travel fees?

Yes, I LOVE to travel & explore new places! As far as travel fees are concerned: if the location we agree on is more than 25 miles from Salem, a small fee is accrued. I am also willing to travel to multiple locations in the same day! Drive time & distance will be reflected in the estimated price of your session. It depends on the location, so let’s talk about it!

  • What if I am super awkward?

Oh man, I am THE most awkward person in the world, so I can tell you, I feeeeel you! I have also made some of fairly awkward people feel at ease & get some great shots. Don’t know what to do with your hands (saame!), worry not my friend, I got you. I will get down, stretch out, & get in all the weird positions to help find all those good angles (& suggest where your hands should be)!

  • How many people can we have in the photos?

Depending on the location, you can have as many as you want! I have photographed huge families, parties, & weddings! For family sessions the starting price reflects a family of 5 or LESS, then price goes up from there depending on how many people are involved.

  • How will I get the Photos?

There are a couple options you can choose from:

Online gallery: easiest & most convenient! Your entire gallery will be able to download to your phone or computer. Expires after 2 weeks (I use this the most)

USB drive: usually used for weddings or bigger events

On the online gallery, there is an option to order prints (if you want), which can be sent directly to your home.

  • Am I able to print or share photos?

Heck yes you can! You have printing rights to any & all photos in your gallery! You can print them whenever & wherever you want, share them all over social media, with grandma, friends, or have them printed on blankets! I don’t put a watermark on them because they are YOUR photos.

*I do reserve the right to use your photos in marketing (websites, flyers, promos, etc.) &/or professional portfolios. I will ask if I think someone would be uncomfortable with me using a photo & get permission first.

  • You can just Photoshop that right?

Nope. I don’t use Photoshop for editing my photos for you. I am dedicated to giving you my best, authentic work. I pride myself on taking the time to take good photos from the start that don’t require a lot of editing. I don’t use filters, or add in the sun when it’s not actually there, or a cool sky background, & I can’t add in someone who doesn’t make it to a session.

I want to capture YOU, because you are amazing exactly how you are & you are loved the way you are! I don’t want to change that.

I can & will edit some blemishes, bruises, or other random things that take away from the image, but very minimally so I don’t change the way someone looks.

Editing after a shoot is a lot of sitting in front of my computer, going through every single photo, picking the best, & using my artistic eye to make it look the best. Sometimes images may not be centered, I might change it to black & white, or I will crop it in a way that makes the viewer focus on a specific area.

  • How many photos will I get? When will I get them?

For a regular full session I will give you at least 30 photos, smaller sessions obviously have less, it just depends on the session you book! I take waaay more photos than I need at each session, so I can go through & select the best ones.

Please allow up to 2 weeks for your gallery to be done, I only say this long because I am a workin’ mama! Usually I can get them done & delivered sooner than that though, so just keep an eye on your email after our session!

Weddings have a slower turn around time because of the volume of photos & editing. Please allow anywhere from 2-6 weeks for full wedding galleries to be ready.

  • What if I have difficult kids or they won’t cooperate during the session?

Aren’t all kids difficult at some point? Yes, yes they are & I have photographed those difficult phases! Each & every one of my kids has gone a little wild when I get the camera out, but I promise you, I will get at least a couple good shots.
Also- I am not above bribing a kid with some candy to get them to smile, so I may just end up pulling some treats out of my pocket or camera bag just for them!

*Tip - Talk to your kiddos about the session in the days leading up to it! Include them in selecting their outfits or their hairstyles, help them by making it sound exciting, & maybe tell them you can get ice cream (or something else just as fun) after! Sometimes these things help them get into it & be their awesome selves!
